Morven Hawthorn Pit Grid Connection Project is holding its consultation from 6 October to 15 November 2026

Morven Hawthorn Pit Grid Connection Project Feedback Form

Autumn 2026 Consultation: Tuesday 6 October to Sunday 15 November

Project overview

Morven Offshore Wind Limited (“MvOWL”) is developing the Morven Hawthorn Pit Grid Connection (“MHPGC”) Project to connect either the Morven North or Morven South Offshore Wind Array Project to the National Grid at Hawthorn Pit.

The MHPGC Project comprises an offshore export cable corridor in both Scottish and English waters and onshore infrastructure in England, near Seaham, County Durham. This consultation relates to the MHPGC Project as a whole.

The elements of the MHPGC Project in England and English waters will form part of the proposed application for development consent under the Planning Act 2008. The offshore export cable in Scottish waters will be consented separately through the Scottish marine licensing process.

Feedback received through our previous consultations in 2024 and 2025, alongside further technical and environmental assessment, has helped refine the proposals being presented in 2026. We are now seeking further feedback on the MHPGC Project before the relevant applications for consent are finalised.

The consultation

This consultation is open from 6 October to 15 November 2026.

Your feedback will help us refine our proposals before we submit our applications for consent.

Once the consultation has closed, we will carefully consider all feedback received as we continue to refine our proposals. We will publish this feedback and our response in a Consultation Report, which will form part of the DCO application that we will submit to the Planning Inspectorate and Marine Licence application(s) that we will submit to Marine Directorate: Licensing Operations Team.

Offshore cable corridor

Cable Landfall

Do you have any feedback on our refined Central landfall location?

This is the area where the offshore export cables come onshore, and the transitional area between the offshore cabling and the onshore cabling, including transition joint bays.

We are particularly interested in understanding your views on:

  • the proposed landfall location;
  • all activities associated with landfall throughout the MHPGC Project lifecycle, including construction, operation and maintenance and decommissioning;
  • the findings of the PEIR, including the predicted environmental effects and assessment outcomes; and the proposed measures to avoid, reduce and mitigate environmental effects.

Onshore corridor

Do you have any feedback on the proposed onshore cable corridor (which includes the onshore export cable corridor and AC connection cable corridor)?

We are particularly interested in understanding your views on:

  • the proposed onshore cable corridor route, including:
  • the onshore export cable corridor, and the AC connection cable corridor;
  • all activities associated with the onshore export cable corridor and AC connection cable corridor throughout the MHPGC Project lifecycle, including construction, operation and maintenance and decommissioning;
  • the findings of the PEIR, including the predicted environmental effects and assessment outcomes; and
  • the proposed measures to avoid, reduce and mitigate the environmental effects of the onshore cable route.

Onshore land substation

We have identified two refined sites for the location of our land substation. The substation would be sited within one of these search areas

We are particularly interested in understanding your views on:

  • the siting of the onshore land substation (LSS);
  • views on or local insights into either the green or blue site options;
  • all activities associated with the land substation site throughout the MHPGC Project lifecycle, including construction, operation and maintenance and decommissioning;
  • the findings of the PEIR, including the predicted environmental effects and assessment outcomes; and
  • the proposed measures to avoid, reduce and mitigate the environmental effects of the LSS.

Minimising the potential project impacts

Do you have any comments on how we propose to minimise the potential onshore and offshore impacts and effects?

We are particularly interested in understanding your views on:

  • biodiversity net gain enhancements;
  • proposed measures to avoid, reduce or mitigate any environmental effects; and
  • considerations to ensure communities are not adversely affected.

Any other feedback

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
